Members of the public (without medical background/training) should have a good understanding of the various different types of bleeding and the relevant skills to stop or significantly reduce the bleeding.
Medical and healthcare professional students will understand the basic principles of bleeding, hemostasis, shock, and how to control and or stop bleeding in the emergency as well as in a medical environment.
Control Bleeding Course students will gain knowledge and an understanding of:
- Vascular anatomy
- Physiology of blood, blood volume, blood pressure, and blood clotting
- Methods to control bleeding in both the emergency and controlled medical settings
- Surgical shock
- Restoring hypovolemia
- Relevant pharmacology
- Various other related subjects
Control Bleeding Course students will gain the following bleeding control skills by applying their knowledge gained in The Apprentice Doctor® Control Bleeding Course material and applying it by using The Apprentice Doctor® How to Control Bleeding Training Kit.
Methods to stop bleeding in the emergency setting:
- Direct pressure
- Packing and bandaging
- Tourniquets
Methods to stop bleeding in the controlled medical environment:
- Direct pressure
- Packing and bandaging
- Tourniquets
- Clamping bleeding blood vessels
- Tying-off bleeding blood vessels
- Suturing
- A variety of other measures available to the medical professional
The final objective is the most important, and that is to enable both the public and all medical professionals to control and stop bleeding effectively, and as a result, prevent the premature death of trauma and mass disaster victims.

His training varied between basic medical sciences, surgery, and dentistry. He started a medical sciences section in the largest Science Center in Africa – the Sci-Bono Discovery Science Center and was involved with medical research in collaboration with Dr. Sandy Marks Jr. from the University of Massachusetts. Experience includes academic, public, military as well as private practice – all this experience in one person and now Dr. Anton is eager to see young people fulfilling their dreams of becoming great medical professionals.
Dr. Anton Scheepers has a keen interest in medical education as the head of the Premedical Sciences Department at the Solid Rock Community and Virtual Schools based in Tampa, Florida. He is still a practicing medical professional as well as the director of The Apprentice Corporation – an organization with the mission of assisting prospective medical professionals towards fulfilling their dreams. He is the author of 4 books*, a number of International medical articles and the accredited Apprentice Doctor® high school course material available at selected schools in the USA.
