Develop your skills in teaching and knowledge about learning in higher education with a flexible program of online courses from UNSW
The Foundations of University Learning and Teaching program is comprised of three professional development courses designed for practising teachers and other educational professionals concerned with enhancing learning and teaching in higher education.
You’ll explore effective teaching, educational design, assessment and evaluation to improve learning and teaching.
The aim of the program is to develop and strengthen your knowledge and skills to improve your practice and ability to deliver effective learning experiences.
Accessible for free on your desktop, or tablet and delivered in bite-sized chunks, the courses provide a flexible way to fit learning into a busy life. And as you progress, you’ll be encouraged to try things out; actively reflect on what you discover, and share your experience in discussions.
When you complete all three courses, upgrade and qualify for a Certificate of Achievement for each, and submit and pass an ePortfolio assessment, you will earn a FutureLearn Award as evidence of your continuing professional development (CPD).
This program also offers a pathway to UNSW’s Graduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching (GCULT)
To be eligible for the GCULT program at UNSW, you will need to:
Complete all three courses in the Foundations of University Learning and Teaching program including the ePortfolio assessment task, upgrade and qualify for a Certificate of Achievement for each course, and verify your ID with FutureLearn.
Have completed a three year undergraduate degree at a recognised university, and be actively engaged in teaching or design work to support teaching in higher education throughout the duration of the program.
The essence of UNSW Sydney is not found in our impressive facilities or beautiful grounds. It is found in our students, our staff, our alumni and our generous donors. Our collective difference reflects the unique perspectives of our people, place and purpose as we play our part in the creation of a just society.
UNSW’s strategic priorities actively address the challenges we face today - from climate change and renewable energies to lifesaving medical treatments and breakthrough technologies. We aim to make an impact on people’s lives around the world.
In 2020, UNSW evolved its motto to “Scientia corde mente et manu” - Knowledge by Heart, Mind and Hand. This is more than just a slogan of renewed values and aspirations. It captures the fact that we serve higher purpose, and are committed to serving society through knowledge sharing and new discovery.
