Non-profit management refers to the process of running a charitable organization. The main goal of non-profit management is to further the mission of the organization while adhering to the ethical standards and regulations set forth by the government. Non-profit management includes a variety of tasks such as financial planning, fundraising, managing staff and volunteers, and marketing the organization.
A successful non-profit manager must have strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of the non-profit sector.
How to Learn Non-Profit Management
Those interested in pursuing a career in non-profit management will find that there are a number of different educational paths that they can take. Many colleges and universities offer degree programs specifically in non-profit management, which can provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills that they need to be successful in the field. Alternatively, many individuals choose to pursue a more general business or management degree and then complete a certificate program or take additional coursework in non-profit management. There are also a number of professional organizations, such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the National Council of Nonprofits, that offer training and resources for those interested in working in the non-profit sector.
