About Wisconsin Geography

Wisconsin is a state located in the north-central United States. It is bordered by Lake Michigan to the east, Illinois to the south, Iowa to the southwest, Minnesota to the west, and Lake Superior to the northwest. Wisconsin is the 23rd largest state by total area and the 20th most populous. The state capital is Madison, and the largest city is Milwaukee. Wisconsin is divided into 72 counties and contains more than 15,000 lakes, making it the most lakeshore state in the country.

Wisconsin's geography is diverse, with lowlands in the southeast and northwest, and the highlandscope Driftless Area in the southwest. The state is home to two National Parks (Apostle Islands and Saint Croix Island), as well as numerous state parks and forests. The North Woods, which make up the majority of the northern third of the state, are a mix of coniferous and deciduous forests. Central and southern Wisconsin are mostly dominated by agricultural land.

Wisconsin has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters. The state is known for its dairy industry, as well as its Beerfest and bratwurst.

The state capital is Madison, and the largest city is Milwaukee. Wisconsin's landscape includes forests, prairies, lakes and rivers, making it a great place for outdoor activities like camping, fishing, hiking and skiing. The state is also home to a number of historical and cultural sites, including the House on the Rock, the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Wisconsin Dells.
